US$2m funding for Global Air Quality platform Airly

Global air quality platform Airly raised US$2m funding led by Venture Capital Giant Ventures on 2nd October 2020. It is a European enterprise that provides precise data about air contamination. Some of the leading angel investors also participated in the round.

The investing partners 

The funding was led by the newly formed venture capital Giant Ventures along with the participation of angel investors Sir Ronald Cohen and Sir Richard Branson’s families, Martin Tajur (founder of CRM tool company Pipedrive), Sophia Bendz (Spotify CMO and partner of Cherry Venture), Konstantin von Unger(Henkel Board member), and Piotr Jakubowski (CMO Gojek). The co-founder of leading investor Giant Ventures said the company is creating great economic and social value with its predictive air-quality data. Recent research by the company has also associated air pollution with the increase in Coronavirus infection.

The company makes money by selling its quality sensors to several communities and customers. Airly sensors measure the air quality in your immediate surroundings. Easy to install, these devices are calibrated and continuously verified to guarantee reliable information which can be viewed in real time from your mobile or computer.

MyAirly

MyAirly shows you the air quality in your area and alerts you when levels are ‘bad’. Therefore, you can see a complete and accurate picture of the air you breathe. There are more than 2 million existing users of the app.

Airly API

They charge for the API access. The API lets business clients and public entities get a live and historical air-quality assessment. It also provides raw data for research and scientific papers.

The French air quality assessment organization has awarded their device for providing the most accurate data. The market need for air assessment tools is on a strong go. As of now, the market of such tools is marked US$ 4billion, which is going to be further increased to US$6.5 billion by the year 2025. The technology provided by them is served around 400 European Union and Asian cities by numerous universities and organizations. Some of its users’ big names include Philips, Motorola, Aviva, PwC, Skanska, and Veolia.

Three engineering students, Aleksander Konor, Wiktor Warchalowski, and Michal Misiek founded the enterprise in September 2016. Its technology combines the power of sensors and software to detect air emissions and particles that aren’t visible to the naked eye like NOx, methane and CO. Its algorithm can effectively predict the air quality from the data they collect up to 24 hours.
