USA-based silicon provider and RF technology company focused on decreasing time-to-market for connected device manufacturers, Trident IoT raised USD 10 million in a fundraising round. The company announced the investment on April 11, 2024.

Todd Pedersen, entrepreneur and founder of Vivint and Vivint Solar led the financing for the company. As a part of the deal, he will also join the Trident IoT Board of Directors.

Purpose of investment for Trident IoT

With the most recent fundraising, Trident IoT aims to increase engineering support, certification preparation, and silicon/hardware solution development across a variety of IoT and connectivity platforms, such as Z-Wave, Zigbee, Thread, Matter, LoRa, and more.

With this investment, the business is positioned to future-proof its expanding portfolio. In order to speed up IoT product design, Trident IoT will use the recently received money to strengthen its AI section and create tools specifically designed for this goal. Trident IoT will be able to accelerate the development of design tools, including SDKs, reference designs, and System-in-Packages (SIPs) with pre-FCC certification, by utilizing these resources to scale engineering resources.

On Tuesday, April 9, the Z-Wave Alliance authorized Trident IoT as an official Z-Wave device certification testing lab concurrent with the close of funding. To provide comprehensive assistance to manufacturers launching new IoT products, Trident IoT will keep growing and broadening its compliance testing and certification resources for Z-Wave and other platforms.

What the lead investor has to add

Todd Pedersen, who joined the board, said, “Trident IoT has a commitment to innovation, combined with deep expertise in wireless and RF technologies, that creates a unique capacity to fast-track IoT development. This investment is a testament to the shared belief that Trident IoT can transform the landscape of connected device technology. I look forward to collaborating with the Trident IoT team to bring the next generation of IoT device solutions to market.”

What the company’s official has to add

Trident IoT CEO and co-founder Mike Lamb said, “Traditional engineering paths cannot match the pace of either technological innovation or customer demands. Our vision is to reduce new IoT product design timelines from 18 to 24 months to 4 to 6 months. With the resources gained in this funding round, as well as Todd’s unmatched perspective on the needs of both end users and device manufacturers, we will be able to extend design acceleration services to more customers and technologies.”
