TORONTO, Jan. 19, 2023 – Notch, a software supplier to the USD 390 billion wholesale food service business, has secured USD 10 million in funding. Portage led the investment, which was joined by Golden Ventures, Math Ventures, Accomplice, Pre-Cursor Ventures, Garage Capital, and Plexo Capital.

Notch, formerly Chefhero, began as a marketplace for restaurants and wholesale wholesalers. The Covid-19 epidemic clarified the company’s most severe commercial demands. Notch has rebranded as a software solution to assist restaurants in digitizing their back-of-house operations. Notch is introducing new options to correspond with this fresh round of funding to deliver a cohesive solution within the world of fragmented hospitality solutions. Notch is well positioned to assist the hotel industry in the post-Covid scenario.

The firm also restructured its personnel as part of this round, hiring new heads of marketing, operations, and sales to focus on its latest product offerings. Ricky Lai, Partner at Portage, will join the Notch Board of Directors as part of the investment.

“Notch simplifies and accelerates back office activities in an industry plagued with laborious reconciliations, paper documentation, and inconsistencies between operations and finance. We are really happy to embark on this journey with Jordan and his crew, “Lai said.

CEO Jordan Huck said:

“It has not been an easy journey for Notch, but I am pleased with this team’s tenacity. We are thrilled to collaborate with Portage on Notch’s next expansion chapter. As our team works to provide digital payments and financial solutions to the foodservice industry, which has previously been primarily offline, Portage’s opinion that B2B Commerce is on its way online coincides perfectly with our own.”

Notch will use this new cash to expand its sales and marketing staff and its geographic reach.
