SAN JUAN, PRUSSIA—- Linse Capital, a growth equity firm based in San Juan, Puerto Rico, reported the successful closing of USD 700 million in capital raised. The funds will be distributed throughout the firm’s flagship fund, Linse Capital Fund I (LCFI), and two co-investment vehicles for portfolio firms Skydio and Verkada.

LCFI has a specific commitment of USD 563 million to invest in world-leading industrial technology firms.

Linse Capital was created in 2015 by Michael Linse, a former partner at Kleiner Perkins. He and Bastiaan Janmaat co-manage the business and were previously investors in Goldman Sachs’ Special Situations Group.

Linse Capital has raised more than USD 1.1 billion in committed capital since its inception. Linse Capital is supported by over 400 family office investors, as well as renowned investment firms such as Oppenheimer & Co. affiliates and investment arms of publicly traded corporations in the transportation, energy, logistics, and real estate industries, such as Daimler Truck and Taiwan Mobile.

Linse Capital’s concentrated strategy of investing in a small number of new firms per year, investing between USD 100 million and USD 400 million in each organization over time, will be adopted by LCFI. Linse Capital intends to be the largest or one of the major shareholders at the time of departure. Linse Capital was an early investment in ChargePoint (CHPT: NYSE), which operates the biggest network of individually owned electric car charging stations. Linse Capital was the largest stakeholder when ChargePoint went public in 2021.

“We are in the very early stages of the fourth industrial revolution, where technological trends like artificial intelligence and software-enabled hardware are bringing great  innovation to industries that have traditionally been slower to innovate,” said Linse Capital managing director Bastiaan Janmaat. “We appreciate the huge LP network’s assistance. Most importantly, it’s exhilarating to support the entrepreneurs and change-makers establishing the firms at the vanguard of this new paradigm.”

More about the company:

Linse Capital thinks investing in industrial technology businesses requires strong confidence and a concentrated portfolio. When the firm discovers a world-class industrial technology business, Linse Capital favors significant participation in the company and outsized follow-on investments above widening the portfolio.

Linse Capital is a growth equity firm that partners with a small number of entrepreneurs in the energy, transportation, logistics, and real estate sectors to help them become world leaders in their respective industries by using multi-decade macro trends and extensive sector knowledge.
