24 August 2022, Charleston, South Carolina — EverGlade Consulting (“EverGlade”), a national consulting company, has successfully managed USD 39 million in federal funds through a partnership with a world leader in mRNA materials used for research, diagnostics, and treatments.

By constructing a new cutting-edge facility, the IBX project will increase domestic production capacity for components necessary for developing and producing mRNA vaccines and treatments, including nucleoside triphosphates (NTPs) and mRNA capping reagents. Funding for the anticipated expansion of the production of nucleic acids is included in this government agreement.

An extensive spectrum of nucleic acid products is currently in high demand due to the several COVID-19 mRNA vaccination projects. This IBx initiative will better prepare the U.S. for any upcoming pandemic by improving the supply of raw materials for life-saving vaccinations and strengthening domestic vaccine production capabilities.

According to the agreement, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Defense (JPEO-CBRND) awarded the production facility a USD 39 million grant on behalf of BARDA, the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (HHS).

BARDA’s heightened requirement for domestic vaccine product development, manufacture, and distribution in response to health security risks of the twenty-first century has resulted in contract awards to address problems like COVID-19 through industrial base expansion programs.

According to Eric Jia-Sobota, CEO of EverGlade Consulting:

“mRNA technology is the future, and establishing the domestic supply chain for this technology is a vital component of the U.S. strategy to prepare for the next pandemic.”

The IBx facility is now under construction, and occupancy won’t happen until this year’s end.
