Slingshot 2021 startup pitching competition

Slingshot (Powered by Startup SG, held at SWITCH) is one of Asia’s most exciting deep tech pitching competitions held in Singapore – one of the world’s top innovation nodes. Slingshot 2021 opened its applications on 30 April and they will be open till 1 August. The startups will compete for over S$1.1M (US$800,000) in attractive prizes.

Prizes –

1. Grand winner of Slingshot 2021 will receive S$ 200K Startup SG grand prize.

2. Top 10 startups will each receive a S$ 50K Startup SG grant prize.

3. Top 100 Global startups will receive the following:

·       Exclusive invitation to compete at Slingshot 2021’s virtual finals.

·       1x complimentary Digital Premium Pass to SWITCH 2021.

·       1 complimentary SWITCH 2021 exhibition booth to showcase your innovative products and services.

·       Participation in Slingshot 100: a three-day curated workshop with one-to-one mentoring, valuable networking opportunities and connections to Southeast Asia’s vibrant tech ecosystem.

4. Shortlisted startups will get the opportunity to develop corporate partnerships and join at Singapore Week of Innovation and TeCHnology 2021 (SWITCH 2021).

The fifth edition of Slingshot is looking for startups in four emerging challenge sectors:

1. Digital Technology

2. Sustainability

3. Smart Cities

4. Health and Wellness

Selection –

The interested startups need to register on the platform and submit a PDF presentation/Pitch Deck (10-slides maximum, in English only), with the following details: 

  • Problem/solution
  • Market and total addressable market (TAM)
  • Value proposition and positioning
  • Go-to-market strategy
  • The business/revenue model
  • Traction: KPI metrics & milestones
  • Forecast 2021/2022
  • Team Presentation

The application phase ends on 1 August 23:59 (GMT+8). The Deepening Phase will be held from 13-22 September for the top 500 startups, followed by the Slingshot 2021 finals from November 8-10 2021.

Switch 2021

Eligibility –

The competition is looking for practical and scalable solutions. Any international startups with a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and meeting the following conditions are eligible to participate:

  • can illustrate initial signs of traction;
  • have proprietary technology or solutions.

Enterprise Singapore: It is the Singapore government agency championing enterprise development. It supports the growth of Singapore as a hub for global trading and Startups.

Startup SG: Startup SG represents the startup community’s shared interests, showcasing Singapore as a leading startup hub. It is the brand for all local support initiatives and provides stakeholders with a platform to connect globally.
