Deliveristo nets €4.5 million in Series A funding
Milano, Italy-based food-tech marketplace Deliveristo has raised €4.5 million in a Series A funding round held in December 2020, led by United Ventures. Other investors in the funding round include IAG, Gellify, Doorway, Seven (Angelomario Moratti) and Metrica (Michele Novelli).
Proceeds from the funding round will be used by the startup to develop its technical aspects and to expand the administrative structure, both countrywide and in Europe.

Founded in 2017 by Ivan Aimo, Luca Calia and Gabriele Angeleri, Deliveristo runs an online B2B delivery platform that connects restaurants and café owners directly to suppliers. The startup aims to simplify the working of the restaurant industry, enabling them to digitally order and purchase directly from producers and distributors. It has adopted a drop-shipping tactic that doesn’t require warehouse subtleties and expenses, enabling flexible and inexpensive logistics management. It also helps these restaurant owners find all kinds of products because of the presence of a large inventory and a single point of payment. Its platform, which leverages cloud technology, has more than 300 suppliers and 15.000 registered goods.

CEO Ivan Aimo said the food industry is undergoing a moment of great change and the team intends to contribute more and more to its innovation, giving restaurateurs and suppliers the technology they require to streamline their business. He goes on to add that food represents one of Italy’s market pillars and that they cannot afford to leave it behind. The entry of United Ventures showcases an important sign of growth for Deliveristo and they have been aligned on the vision from day one and are also sure that it can be the required added value to accomplish the ambitious goals that the startup has set, he concluded.

Managing Partner of United Ventures, Paolo Gesess said while the B2C food delivery market is inhabited by large players with a well-known positioning, the B2B segment is yet to be completely digitized. He also added that thanks to a determined and technically skilled team, and a lean and very scalable SaaS-driven and drop-shipping business model, the firm believes Deliveristo has great capability to shine in the competitive landscape and become the go-to platform for producers and restaurateurs looking to digitize their services. The food industry has been affected badly by the pandemic, but in the past few months has shown great flexibility, creativity, and ambition for technological innovation by which the firm has been convinced that it will play a major role in the relaunch of the sector and the social and economic recovery of Italy, he concluded.
