A Berlin based platform for travel booking, Tourlane has secured US$20 million extended investment on 18th November 2020. This adds to its Series C funding round which was closed in May 2019 at US$ 47 million.

The previous investors of the enterprise Spark Capital, HV capital, DN Capital, Sequoia Capital and the founders of the company participated in this round. This brings the total capital raised till date to US$ 100 million.

Tourlane provides a booking platform that offers multi-day tours with fantastic experiences in about 30 countries globally. They aim at creating authentic travel experiences and unique adventures to the most exotic destinations across the world. Tourlane brings together the experience of a travel agency to the simplicity of an e-product. The app brings travel consultancy to the technological state-of-the-art level. Their product matches the travelers with the preselected specialists which make the booking of customers for adventure trips quick, hassle free and comparable.

This investment gives them financial stability which will help the company to achieve their vision of creating the end-to-end experience of travel booking based on travel expertise and advanced technology. Since they have got this investment in an uncertain time for travelling, it would help them to get ready for the new demand when the travel market bounces back. They will be investing this latest funding round amount in bringing best technology and enriching their product experience. Also they will ensure your maximum flexibility for their customers.

In March the company experienced 30% higher inbound customer service queries as most of the people got in touch to either book or cancel their trips. This wasn’t just a potential revenue loss but was also a big operational loss for the company. However they saw some bright spots as well with recovery in some places. They provide travel bookings to around 50 destinations and this includes places like Iceland which is one of the few destination spots that didn’t see a big outbreak of Covid-19 cases.

Andrew Reed, a partner at Sequoia Capital said, “Tourlane has got the perfect opportunity for redefining the travel experiences of people. We are quite excited to continue this partnership to the next stage by supporting its growth and technological innovation in the coming years.”
