Indian language learning platform for job, Entri, announced on 23rd July, 2020, that it has obtained USD 1.7M in addition to USD 1.4M raised in February this year. The round was led by a set of investors including Good Capital, closing the pre series A round at a total of USD 3.1M.
The start-up claims to utilize the funds to ramp up on marketing and financing the opportunities ahead of it and also to produce more content in the coming months. The 3 years old star-up is targeting a bigger market with more than 400 million people in India, looking to upskill in their mother tongue to enhance their payment.
About the company
Kochi based, Entri was established in the year 2017. The platform provides several kinds of learning content in various format like flashcards, adaptive/ mock tests or video lessons, in local languages. The target market of the company is job aspirants, who can prepare themselves through Entri’s package to get the private or government jobs.
The app started from Kerala with Malayalam content and has since been launched in Hindi, Tamil, Telgu and Kannad languages. Currently the app provides more than 150 courses including upskilling courses like spoken English and accounting and government job exams material in five different local languages. The company claims the growth of 150 per cent in revenue and 100 rise in new users since the lockdown.
The startup said that it has gained 3 million users so far, out of which 90,000 are paid users and Entri’s application is now adding 10,000 new users every day. The company is all set to hit 5 million users in 2020 and is targeting 10 million users in the next 18 months.
