Professional women’s network Leap Club raises fresh funding

India-based Leap Club, professional network for women has brought US$ 340,000 in its pre-seed round of funding. Founded by Ragini Das and Anand Sinha, it aims to create more women leaders for the professional platform.

The investors in the funding round include FirstCheque, Artha India Ventures, Whiteboard Capital (Sandeep Tandon’s VC fund), Amrish Rau (CEO Pinelabs, Founder Citrus Pay), Deepak Abbot (Former SVP, Paytm), Sweta Rau (Founder, White Ventures) and Harpreet Singh Grover (Co-founder, Co-Cubes).
“Economic data suggests a clear positive correlation between higher participation of women in the workforce and a country’s development and at Whiteboard, we believe entrepreneurial initiatives like Leap Club are necessary to improve the growth possibilities of women in the workplace,” said Sandeep Tandon, Managing Partner at Whiteboard Capital, after making the investment.

Leap Club claims that its membership will strengthen the journey of women to the leadership role. The start-up opened for membership in May 2020. With more than 4000 women still on the waiting list, it has on-boarded founding members in Delhi NCR from different companies and industries such as Ernst & Young, Uber, TikTok, NDTV, Tinder, Group M, Google, Invest India, Dunzo, Josh Talks and Fittr.
The paid membership model gives access to exclusive services like focus on mental wellness, upskilling programs, executive coaching, stronger relevant network and so on to the members.

About founders

Ragini Das is an alum of Lancaster University and worked as part of Zomato’s global growth team for its Gold program. She has also been associated with Standard Chartered Bank and Trident Ltd.
Anand Sinha, meanwhile, is a graduate of Christ College Bengaluru, and has worked as the global head for Zomato Gold along with Ragini Das. He is also a co-founder of Pressplay, a media-technology company and has worked as an associate with D. E. Shaw & Co.
