The Colombian city of Medellin, June 8, 2023  — Colombia’s largest coffee grower, The Green Coffee firm (GCC), a Legacy Group portfolio firm, declared today that its USD 25 million Series C equity investment round has concluded.

More than 450 authorized and high-net-worth investors from the United States have contributed over USD 60 million to the company’s fundraising. According to Legacy Group, ‘Mass affluent’ or high-net-worth individuals are increasingly investing directly in emerging market prospects.

The Green Coffee Company is providing investors with unheard-of access to one of the world’s most enduring and sought-after commodities: coffee. According to Cole Shephard, the creator of GCC and a partner at Legacy Group, “We are the only operator at scale providing certified international investors with this opportunity. The USD 25 million Series C stock raise is proof of our market trustworthiness. This rise increases our total equity fundraising to over USD 60 million, thanks to our constantly growing investor base. The market-defining influence we can have with this capital in a country like Colombia will revolutionize how the world consumes coffee.

The company plans to use the money from the funding round to launch lines of liquors and spirits made from coffee cherries and other coffee “waste,” accelerate its U.S.-based coffee roasting operations, and expand its Colombian farming operations as it strives to become the largest producer of arabica coffee in the world. To carry out its expansion goals, the company is looking for USD 65 million in institutional debt funding to complement the equity raise.

Being a part of this rise is wonderful, said Kevan Zipin, an investor in the company since 2018. There is nothing like what Cole, Adam, and the team deliver to the coffee industry. Thanks to their ongoing communication and expertise, every new stage makes me feel like I’m a part of the development process.

Since its foundation in 2017, GCC has grown to own total landholdings of over 9,000 acres and more than 11,500,000 coffee trees, making it the largest coffee grower in the nation by more than a factor of two. GCC is contemplating a potential 2026 U.S. IPO exit to become the world’s leading producer of arabica coffee within the following two years.
