28 April 2023, Sydney — Melodie, a rapidly expanding music licensing platform, has raised fresh capital at a valuation of USD 15 million, up from the USD 4 million it raised in September 2021. By increasing the amount of money it receives through music API licensing, adding new composers and musical compositions, and placing its catalog in more film and television productions, Melodie is experiencing considerable development.

The co-owner of The Drop Festival, Peter Strain, and early Atlassian employee and creator of Code Barrel, Nick Menere, have made follow-up investments in the fresh, oversubscribed round of USD 1 million.

With users integrating directly via the Melodie API, which receives more than 2 million searches and download calls daily, Melodie’s tech-enabled music licensing solutions now cover the overal creator economy, film & TV sync, and, more recently, UGC-centric creative technology platforms.

With placements in TV programs like Armed & Dangerous, Real Housewives, Bondi Rescue, Lift the Ice, EVOLVE, Ninja Warrior, and Outback Car Hunters, Melodie has recently launched a US sync division under the direction of LA-based industry veteran Gary Helsinger. Melodie-platformed music is now famous worldwide and broadcast for over 2 million minutes in Australia alone on free-to-air and VOD platforms.

With a focus on expanding Melodie’s presence in the US market, the most recent amount of funding will further develop Melodie’s three primary sectors, B2C, B2B, and B2B2C.

Melodie’s founder and managing director, Evan Buist, recently returned from presenting at the US broadcast media trade event NAB. He remarked, “It’s been a solid 18 months of catalog expansion, television placements, and client additions. LTM revenues have increased by 250%, while royalties are rising. We are not on a solid growth trajectory, and I anticipate that as we expand into new markets over the next few months and years, our offshore sales will soar.

Melodie is proud to represent music by a diverse local roster of artists, including ARIA Award-winning composers like Helena Czajka (Bluey) and Brendan Gallagher (Messenger, Karma County), as well as First Nations artists like Nooky, a hip-hop artist from the Yuin Nation, and James Henry, a renowned musician, singer-songwriter, and recording engineer.

Melodie is a technologically advanced music licensing platform that offers genuine music to producers, companies, and creative media. With award-winning musicians on its roster and AI search capabilities, Melodie makes it quick, straightforward, and incredibly economical to locate and license excellent music for any material.
