California, DECEMBER 8, 2022–Odie Pet Insurance, a full-service pet health insurance company with a mission to democratize pet insurance by bringing a new generation of pet owners into the market, has announced the closing of a USD 3 million round of fundraising.

RedBird Capital Partners (“RedBird”) led the investment, which will continue investing in technology, product, and marketing to create a simplified platform for increased coverage flexibility, stable and predictable yearly rates, and shared values around pet care.

In addition, Odie has named two new executives to its board of directors: Debra Hyman as Chief Marketing Officer and Bryant Maroney as Chief Technology Officer.

Hyman has over 20 years of experience driving consumer and sales marketing for businesses in media, wellness, and commerce. She will be in charge of developing the company’s B2B and B2C marketing departments and directing awareness and acquisition programs and strategic growth strategies.

Maroney will direct Odie’s technology strategy, conceptualization, development, and cross-functional delivery of software solutions. Maroney was previously the CTO of Spot Pet Insurance. He led software development and product teams in the hyper-growth development of new products, innovative system architecture, and data modeling strategies.

Miles Thorson, Co-Founder, and CEO of Odie Pet Insurance:

“We’ve witnessed a great rise in pet ownership over the last few years. This has led to exceptional momentum and increasing demand for the product through new distribution outlets, strategic alliances, and embedded services. Our goal is to give pet parents more control over their money and the general health of their dogs.

We have a unique potential to deliver a differentiated insurance product to a generation always searching for flexibility and relatability. I am delighted to join RedBird and build the firm through system growth, collaborations, and critical hiring.”
