LOS ANGELES and TEL AVIV, Israel, — CommonGround has raised an additional USD 25 million, increasing its total financing to roughly USD 45 million towards developing an immersive virtual conference experience that reimagines the future of online interactions. The firm provides a platform that supports genuine human relationships as the world becomes more distant, hybrid, and virtual. Users will be able to recreate the deep personal connections we all want with real-life 3D representations of themselves that much beyond what is now achievable on current platforms.

iPhone users who want to create their free ‘TrueSelf Scan’ avatar – the first step in joining a CommonGround gathering – may do so here. The first 500 people who make an avatar will be invited to try the first immersive 3D meeting software that doesn’t require a VR headset.

“During the epidemic, everyone learnt that while internet meetings are vital, they fell short when compared to face-to-face encounters. Virtual meeting solutions today leave us feeling alienated and never respected, understood, or heard “Amir Bassan-Eskenazi, CEO and Co-Founder of CommonGround, stated “CommonGround is developing an unique online meeting experience in which you can sit across a table, gaze into people’s eyes, see, and be seen. By incorporating hyper-realistic avatars into an immersive experience, we may improve online interactions even more than face-to-face meetings.”

A new era of remote work has increased the amount of time people spend meeting online, but many are left feeling disconnected and yearning for a better way to truly connect. Modern solutions either provide unrealistic, cartoon-like avatars or confine you to a box on a screen, masking the critical body language cues we rely on for genuine communication and collaboration.

Unlike other virtual environments, CommonGround’s unique AI, which has been in development for three years, delivers a powerful, immersive, and secure 3D experience with hyper-realistic user representations that create an unprecedented feeling of presence and emotional connection. This enables users to make eye contact, communicate nonverbally through body language, and be perceived as their entire, authentic self – seated among colleagues in a virtual room, face to face, rather than just another blankly looking face in a sea of squares.

Amir Bassan-Eskenazi and Ran Oz, serial entrepreneurs who have built seven firms with three successful IPOs, two M&As, and two Emmy awards for technology, launched CommonGround.
