US-based Inbox Health raises US$ 15M in Series A funding

MIAMI, 17 August 2022 – The largest philanthropic organization in the area dedicated to achieving health equity in underserved communities, the Health Foundation of South Florida, recently announced an investment of USD 1 million to support increased enrolment, scholarships, and other support services for nursing and health sciences students at two nearby public colleges, Miami Dade College and Broward College.

The Health Foundation hopes to increase access to well-paying, in-demand jobs for students from the underserved Black and Hispanic communities in the area as well as strengthen the nursing and allied healthcare workforce in South Florida (which includes, for example, licensed practical nurses, medical assistants, and techs).

A spokeswoman for the Health Foundation of South Florida, Loreen Chant:

“We are aware that there are no easy or quick fixes for our area’s nursing and healthcare staff deficit. However, we also think that the crisis offers us a chance to work towards ensuring that more community members have access to stable, well-paying jobs. We are deeply concerned about this because we know that increasing access to economic opportunity and mobility is essential to improving the health and wellbeing of our region.

Bryan Stewart, president of Miami Dade College’s Medical Campus, said:

“We are pleased to join with the Health Foundation of South Florida to serve underprivileged and underrepresented groups in South Florida.  The help of this grant, we will be able to assist students starting their careers in the health field as well as our present nursing students, and we will be able to develop boot camps for new students. This relationship is, in my opinion, both novel and crucial.”

More about the company:

One of The Health Foundation’s primary strategic goals is to develop a healthy community by enhancing the social and economic factors that support physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. The USD 1 million contribution fits under this objective. It also forms a part of the Foundation’s collaboration with the South Florida Anchor Alliance, a group of 19 regional organizations, including several healthcare systems, united in their goal of fostering greater economic inclusion in South Florida through coordinated workforce development and procurement initiatives.

With a focus on vulnerable, low – to moderate-income populations, the Health Foundation of South Florida aims to invest in and act as a catalyst for partnerships, policy, and system improvements that promote community health in South Florida. Since its inception in 1993, the foundation has given more than USD 138 million to charities operating in Broward, Miami-Dade, and Monroe counties.
