CertiK, the world’s top Web3 and blockchain security company, announced on 23rd April 2022 that SoftBank Vision Fund 2 and Tiger Global have invested another US $60 million in the company.

SoftBank is making its first foray into the Web3 security market with this acquisition. CertiK raised US $88 million in a Series B3 round headed by Insight Partners, with a US $2 billion value. With this additional capital, CertiK now has a total investment of US $290 million in the last nine months.

What the founder has to say:

Ronghui Gu, CertiK founder and CEO:

“This is a great follow-up to our most recent round of transactions. These contributions emphasize the importance of web3 security and will aid in the protection of the blockchain sector and the development of confidence in the crypto project community. Cross-chain attacks, flash loans, rug pulls, and other incidents have highlighted the need for end-to-end web3 security, which we’re glad to be able to provide, including smart contract audits, 24/7 threat monitoring, and KYC.”

What the investors have to say:

Dennis Chang, Managing Partner at SoftBank Investment Advisers:

“Web3 is gaining popularity, but security problems are preventing it from reaching its full potential. We believe CertiK combines significant expertise in cybersecurity, blockchains, and systems verification to offer businesses leading blockchain security and auditing solution. We’re excited to work with Professor Gu and his colleagues to help them achieve their goal of protecting the Web3 world.”

About CertiK:

CertiK’s goal is to keep the Web3 world safe. Starting with blockchain, CertiK brings cutting-edge academic discoveries into the enterprise, allowing mission-critical applications to be designed with security and precision. CertiK was founded by computer science academics Ronghui Gu and Zhong Shao in New York City. Insight Partners, Tiger Global, Sequoia Capital, Coatue Management, Advent International, Goldman Sachs, Lightspeed, SoftBank Vision Fund 2, Hillhouse Capital, Binance, Coinbase Ventures, and others have invested in CertiK.

CertiK’s purpose is to safeguard the Web3 world with an end-to-end set of security services, giving clients a one-stop shop for all of their security requirements. Following the loss of over US $1.3 billion in crypto assets to cybercriminals in 2021, demand for industry-leading blockchain security remains high in 2022. Over US $1 billion in bitcoin was lost owing to four big bridge attacks in the first quarter of this year, while over $200 million was lost due to several flash loan attacks.
