Playbook, a creative file organizer for designers that combines Pinterest and Dropbox, has raised US $18 million in a Series A fundraising round led by Bain Capital Ventures.

The company intends to use its new funds to improve its product and, of course, to hire new employees. Playbook currently employs 14 people, with nine full-time workers and five contractors.

What the founder has to say:

CEO – Playbook- Jessica Ko:

Playbook, according to Ko, is an “easy-to-use” cloud storage and sharing service for freelancers and designers that uses technology like picture tagging to transform photos and videos into “an expressive Pinterest-like gallery.”

According to the company, it also contains a “suite of capabilities” aimed at cooperation and easy sharing. Users can turn a collection of assets into a live shared page with a selection of templates using the built-in publishing capabilities. Playbook searches image contents, extracted text, and related photos using its unique machine learning technology.

What the investors have to say:

Kevin Zhang, partner at Bain Capital Ventures:

For decades, many firms have relied on digital asset management (DAM) technologies to regulate access, verify license compliance, and solve various issues linked to the photographs and videos they use in their company.

“They’re slow, inconvenient, and frequently pushed on teams by executives in ways that slow down their work and necessitate workarounds, which is inefficient for everyone.” Playbook approaches the problem from a fresh perspective, focusing on addressing the daily pain points of designers and their teams first. To develop a great experience that creatives want to use, we’ve focused on both critical and subtle features surrounding search, tagging, and organization.”

By early 2020, Ko (CEO) and Alex Zirbel (CTO) had formally launched Playbook in San Francisco. Last August, the company revealed it had secured US $4 million in a seed round sponsored by Founders Fund, valuing the company at US $20 million.

Founders Fund, Abstract Ventures, Maple VC, Hyphen Capital, Blank Ventures, and angel investor Elad Gil increased their investment in the newest round.

Playbook is a lovely, well-organized hub for all creative endeavors. Playbook makes it simple for teams to share and collaborate on visual projects. Playbook allows freelancers to collaborate with clients and share their work with the rest of the world with ease.

Cutting-edge technologies power playbook. It imports, tags, and categorizes the entire media library of any person in minutes.
