On 29th March 2022, Weiterstadt, Germany / Tokyo, Japan – Wingcopter, a German drone delivery pioneer, signed a strategic collaboration arrangement with ITOCHU Corporation. ITOCHU has joined Wingcopter’s Authorized Partnership Program (WAPP) as a specialized distributor and lessor in Japan for the Wingcopter 198, the company’s new eVTOL delivery drone. On top of that, the Japanese company opted to invest strategically in Wingcopter.

ITOCHU is one of the major Japanese general trading enterprises (sogo shosha), with 125,000 employees worldwide and an annual trading income of USD 93 billion.

Wingcopter’s global network of strategic partners is known as the WAPP. Drone operators, resellers, and agents who have been taught and approved to operate, market, lease, and distribute the Wingcopter 198 technology in their territory are considered authorized partners. Wingcopter named SYNERJET Corp, a business aviation specialist, as an Authorized Partner for Latin America in late 2021. Given Japan’s innovative attitude to integrating drones into everyday life, the cooperation with ITOCHU will help Wingcopter expand in Japan, which will be one of the most important markets for drone delivery in the future.

SYNERJET, DRONE FUND, Expa, Xplorer Capital, Futury Capital, Hessen Kapital III, and Corecam Capital Partners are among the existing investors.

Co-Founder and CEO of Wingcopter- Tom Plümmer:

“In the future, we expect Japan to become one of the most important regions for drone delivery applications. As a result, we are confident that ITOCHU, with its extensive network and expertise across a wide range of industries, as well as the financial clout of a Fortune Global 500 firm, would assist us in serving more Japanese customers and allowing us to extend Wingcopter’s operations across Japan.”

About Wingcopter:

Wingcopter is a German producer of eVTOL and fixed-wing unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and a drone delivery service provider.
