Weglot, a French firm, has raised US $50 million (€45 million) in a Series A fundraising round from Partech on 24th March 2022. The organization has developed a website translation service. It allows you to add additional languages to your website without tinkering or switching to a different CMS or e-commerce platform.

About Weglot:

Weglot is a no-code website translation program that allows anyone to construct a multilingual website rapidly. It was founded by Augustin Prot and Remy Berda in 2016.

It converts and displays a website’s content, eliminating several managing pages for different markets. The company’s API can be integrated into websites in minutes through a plugin or script.

Weglot’s technology enables businesses to translate more than just the text on their websites, such as photos, metadata, and content from other sources (e.g., a review app).

Microsoft, Spotify, Steve Madden, and Volcom are among the 60,000 B2B and B2C businesses that the French company has helped translate and display their websites in numerous languages.

How does it work?

Weglot’s servers automatically detect and download content from the website. Customers of Weglot can use automatic translation to learn new languages.

The company also provides a dashboard that allows you to dig deeper into your material and improve your translations. From that interface, you can offer expert translators access and manage translations.

After that, you’ve got yourself a bilingual website. When a visitor comes to your site, it will automatically load in their preferred language. If you want to provide multiple options, you can also include a language changer in the corner of your website.

Despite the fact that translations are stored on Weglot’s servers, each language has its own subdirectory or subdomain. Google and other search engines will be able to index each language variety of your website this way. Weglot can also be used to translate metadata and keywords.

The company charges a monthly fee based on the number of languages and words you require. Weglot’s yearly recurring income surpassed US $11 million (€10 million) last year. Not bad for a company that hasn’t received outside funding since its seed round in 2017.
