Papier has raised US $50 million in a Series C round on Feb 14, according to Taymoor Atighetchi, the London startup’s CEO and founder. The objective of this funding is to expand its products to include more paper-based products, along with pens and the other supplies you might find on your physical desktop, such as desk storage, writing utensils like pencils and pens, or anything else to support your writing.

Singular, a Paris-based venture capital firm, led the round, which included new investors dmg ventures, Lansdowne Partners, Kathaka, and existing backers Felix Capital and Beringea. The company has already raised US $65 million and is not disclosing its valuation, although it claims its revenues have increased by 150 percent in the last two years.

What the founder has to say:

“The objective is to develop a global stationery brand.” “It’s a US $200 billion business, and it lacks a powerful internet brand, nothing that is category-defining the way other verticals are.” This money is a critical component of that strategy. It drives us to go global and to the United States.” While Papier will remain private for the time being, he noted, “We envision a public listing as absolutely part of the journey.”

What the investors have to say:

Investors are enthusiastic about the concept and its potential.

“I like how the brand is blended with the environment and with style,” says the designer. “Many people nowadays operate from home offices. They aren’t segregating work and personal life as much as they used to. Papier might be able to help in both of those areas.”-Nahu Ghebremichael, Singular VC.
