Weezy on-demand grocery platform secures £15 million Series A funding

Weezy, a London, England based online supermarket platform built to deliver on-demand groceries in just 15 minutes secured £15 million Series A funding on 14th January 2021. 

The Series A investment was led by the New York based venture capital Left Lane Capital and was joined by new investor DN Capital, existing investor Heartcore Capital and angel investor Christ Muhr. 

Harley Miller, Managing Partner at Left Lane Capital said, “Weezy’s founding team has the right balance of drive, experience and temperament to lead in e-commerce innovation and convenience within the UK grocery market and beyond. It is an honor to partner with them on this journey and help them solidify their first-mover advantage in London.”

The newly raised investment will be used for the expansion of their on demand delivery service in London and UK. The proceeds of funds will also be utilized in the expansion of their UK team to around 50 employees in the next four months with addition to extra fulfillment of centre staff. 

Kristof Van Beveren, the co-founder and CEO of Weezy, said, “The customers of Weezy love the friendliness of our team, the quality of what we produce, and our quick, accurate delivery times. This new funding round will allow us to expand the team and our footprint to bring Weezy to more customers across the UK.”

They are opening two new fulfillment centers in London and Lambert fields this month that will add to the existing locations of their fulfillment centers in Chelsea, Battersea, Clapham and Fulham. Beside this they also have the plans to open into 240 more UK sites by the end of this year. Previously the company secured US$ 1.3 million Series A funding in August 2020.
