Dog Chef, a startup born out of Belgium that prepares freshly produced food for the dogs has secured €1 million investment from Seeder fund, Proplast and two angel investors on 24th December 2020.
The newly raised investment will help the company to develop their workshop situated near Brussels and scale their team. With the aim of providing tailor made food for pets, the enterprise created an advanced algorithm that calculates the daily portions of meals based on 10 different parameters like age, weight, build, physical activity etc. The Dog Chef meals are freshly cooked with 100% natural ingredients with tailor-made meal portions.
It is the perfect destination for the people who want to provide homemade food for their dogs but can’t make the time to cook themselves. The startup prepares fresh meals based on dogs that fit its nutrition requirements. They have four different recipes available, “chicken with rice, beef with lentils, duck with potatoes and fish with quinoa.” All of these are completely balanced, gluten free and delicious recipes, developed with the consultation of veterinarians that provide specialized canine nutrition for the dogs.
Anyone can get started with the platform in 4 easy steps and get the freshly produced dog meals delivered at their homes. The customers have to create a profile for their dog that includes this information like age, weight etc for the calculation of nutritional needs. After which the meals can be chosen on the basis of dog’s requirements. The freshly delivered meals are delivered at the homes without any extra charge; it can be kept in the refrigerator for 14 days or even for 4 months in the freezer. The customers can also order individual meals or subscription plans that are 50% cheaper and can be cancelled anytime.

Alex Cardon, the founder of Dog Chef started it in January 2017, after adopting a Australian shepherd dog. While discovering healthy diets for his dog he discovered household relations that gave him the idea to establish a company that delivers fashion tailor made meals for the dogs. The startup presently delivers not just in Belgium but in France, Luxembourg and Netherlands as well.
