SINAI Technologies, a San Francisco-based leading decarbonization software platform which enables tracking energy use and reducing the carbon footprint of companies has raised US$ 3.8 million in a seed funding round held in October 2020.

This round was led by Afore Capital with other participants including Abstract Ventures, Coelius Capital and the founders of Eventbrite and PlanGrid

It plans to use the funds to expand operations and its business reach.

SINAI has invented the world’s first decarbonization software platform to help companies rapidly adopt the most feasible mitigation solutions to reach the Paris Agreement 2020 goals.

The startup has recently signed Siemens Brazil as a new customer. It is a subsidiary of Germany’s Siemens AG, the largest industrial manufacturing company in Europe. Siemens is leading the way to reach carbon-neutral operations by 2030.

The company has other customers like ArcelorMittal Brazil, the Brazilian subsidiary of the world’s leading steel and mining company and Brazil’s BRK Ambiental, the largest private water distribution company in Latin America.

Words from BRK Ambiental

“BRK started using SINAI at an important stage in our climate change strategy,” said Carlos Almiro, sustainability director, BRK Ambiental

“In only two months, we were able to engage several teams on the climate change agenda. SINAI presents internal carbon pricing in a simple and objective way and this was key to engage the board. In using SINAI, we’re internalizing decarbonization knowledge and data across all teams, and spreading our climate agenda company-wide,” he also added.

What the founder has to say

“We are solving a big problem: clarity around how companies manage their carbon emissions, and then how to achieve their carbon emission targets with the most cost effective solutions,” said Maria Fujihara, CEO and co-founder,  SINAI.

“A lot of companies are facing pressure from shareholders, customers, and from their local communities to reduce carbon emissions,” she also added.
