Exoticca closes €5M Series B extension

Exoticca, a Barcelona-based traveltech platform that creates package tours to long-distance destinations, has closed €5 million as an extension of its Series B round held in October 2020. This extension round was led by Milano Investment Partners with participation from K Fund, Bonsai Partners, Pase Capital, Kibo Ventures and Sabadell Venture Capital. The first section of the round was held in July 2019 which raised €11M. Exoticca has raised a total of  €16 million in Series B funds.

This investment will help Exoticca prepare for post-Covid travel demand, specifically by investing in its tech platform and types of packages offered. For now, its website highlights free cancellation on all trips.

In addition to post-Covid preparations, the startup is also looking into acquisitions for accelerating its growth in certain segments of the travel market. Exoticca had raised €2 million in venture debt in April 2019 and €3.5 million in equity in 2018.

Each component of their trips has been rigorously tested to ensure maximum quality. Every hotel working with Exoticca requires a minimum of 3.5 stars out of 5 on TripAdvisor. They also require a minimum of 65% Excellent or Very Good reviews from previous customers.

Exoticca offers affordable luxury package tours to more than 50 destinations across the globe, available to travellers from six markets – Spain, the UK, France, Germany, USA and Canada. The travel itinerary is designed by experts in each destination with a detailed approach while deciding the flight, hotel, activities, etc. Emphasis is also given to the traveller’s experience and the price range they would generally require.

What the CEO has to say

“There are many people eager to travel again and we believe that this is the right time to invest in order to build a global category leader in package tours,” said Pere Vallès, CEO at Exoticca.
