SenseHawk raises US$ 5.1M in Series A funding

San Francisco-based SaaS startup SenseHawk has raised US$ 5.1M in a Series A funding round held in September 2020, led by Alpha Wave Incubation, (an early-stage US$ 300M fund managed by Falcon Edge Capital) along with participation from SAIF Partners.

The funding will be used by SenseHawk for product development and to expand in North America, the Middle East and North Africa.

Rahul Sankhe and Swaroop Mavanoor founded the startup in 2018, which helps customers develop, create and operate solar and added infrastructure sites with appropriate acumen. SenseHawk’s cloud-driven platform enables solar companies to reduce costs, augment workforce productivity, and improve solar site performance by leveraging AI and machine learning prototypes.

Mobile and web applications designed by the startup help its customers throughout the solar lifespan of development, construction and preservation of solar assets. The solution leverages GIS, artificial intelligence, drone imagery to boost productivity for its users.  

Whether he/she is a developer, EPC, O&M contractor, Asset Owner, Independent Engineer or anyone working on a solar project, the platform assists every association with tools to increase production, lower expenses and improve ROI (Return on Investment).

SenseHawk is all set to expand to Abu Dhabi and will be utilizing UAE as a global base for international development, while also targeting the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), and other intercontinental markets. It plans to hire a crew of data scientists, product managers and engineers based in Abu Dhabi.

The startup’s solution is used by over 80 clients to analyze over 28 GW of solar assets in 15 nations. It aims to enhance its offerings and increase its customer demographic as the world progressively moves towards renewable energy.
