NFT platform for entertainment industry Curio

25 August 2022, Los Angeles — Following the closing of a USD 10.5M Series A fundraising round led by Dapper Labs, Spartan Labs, Commonwealth Asset Management (CWAM), and Fundamental Labs, NFT Genius, a startup creating world-class experiences and marketplace technology for the NFT market, announced a USD 150M value. Spartan, One Football, and Unibanco also took part in the round.

Kurt Braget, Karl Meier, and Jeremy Born established NFT Genius. The business created Gaia and controls the biggest NFT market on Flow. Gaia acts as the top secondary market for digital collectibles related to sports, entertainment, art, and culture, focusing on facilitating universal access and user-friendliness.

According to Jeremy Born:

“We’re not just bucking the trend in securing finance during this difficult moment in the market; we are also the first in the industry to put the customer front and center largely when it comes to investing in Web3. Our ultimate objective is to make Web3 investment so straightforward that anyone with a credit card can do it and gain greatly financially.”

The money will also be used by NFT Genius to expand beyond sports, support significant entertainment and culture partnerships, and expand the Gaia marketplace to help thousands of businesses and brands appeal to the general public.

In terms of transaction volume and active accounts, the Flow ecosystem reached a record high in June 2022. At the core of Gaia, the Dapper Wallet serves as a gateway for regular users into Web3.

NFT Genius has also collaborated on NFT partnerships with renowned athletes and performers over the past year, including Shareef and Shaquille O’Neal, golfer Bryson DeChambeau, WNBA player Kelsey Plum, and Duncan Robinson of the Miami Heat.

Some of the most well-known and expensive NFT collections, such as Ballerz, were also produced by NFT Genius. Ballerz’s debut on November 8, 2021, features 10,000 generative basketball NFTs. After selling out in under one hour, the collection is still on the secondary market. Team, number, role, jersey, body, hair, accessories, dunks, shooting, playmaking, and defense are all Ballerz assets. Fans can display their genuine status by gathering their favorite teams’ jersey numbers. On Flow, Ballerz is one of the top five sports NFT projects.

Following the company’s inaugural seed investment in June 2021, NFT Genius continued to defy current NFT patterns by displaying extraordinary growth, jumping from a valuation of USD 18 million to a current valuation of USD 150 million in just one year.
