11 APRIL 2022, AUSTIN, TEXAS Diligent Robotics, an Austin-based robotic automation firm, declared that it has raised over US $30 million in Series B funding, increasing the total amount raised to approximately US $50 million. Diligent Robotics creates socially intelligent service robots and artificial intelligence technologies that allow robots to work together in human situations and adapt to their surroundings.

Tiger Global headed the Series B capital round, an investment firm focused on private and public firms in the internet, software, consumer, and financial technology industries. Existing investors such as True Ventures, DNX Ventures, Ubiquity Ventures, E14 Fund, Next Coast Ventures, Boom Capital, and Gaingels, and new investors such as Cedars-Sinai Health Ventures, continue to back Diligent.

Diligent will use the funds acquired in this round to improve its supply chain and design teams to deploy robots faster. They’ll keep improving interoperability and driving deliberate connections with current hospital infrastructure, electronic health records, and clinical communications, so they can keep up with demand during the ongoing nursing shortage. Diligent’s team is looking forward to the next chapter and how the Series B funding will help them go forward with their plans.

What the founder have to say:

Dr. Andrea Thomaz, co-founder of Diligent Robotics:

“We are grateful for the continued support of our previous investors and the new partners that joined during our Series B investment round. This additional round of funding will enable us to scale the business to satisfy the overwhelming demand for our healthcare service robot. We’re focusing on developing automated support for clinical teams, thanks to the help of our investors and the Diligent team, so nurses and clinicians can focus on what matters most: patient care.”

About the company:

Diligent Robotics, founded in 2017, is the market leader in social robotics and the first to develop a robot with social intelligence and mobile manipulation capabilities to assist people in their work situations. Moxi, a collaborative robot assistant that aids healthcare staff with mundane, non-patient-facing duties such as retrieving and delivering supplies, prescriptions, or lab samples, was introduced in 2018. Moxi has improved overall clinical flows and given care team members valuable time to spend with their patients since its launch and integration into multiple healthcare systems.
