Forj, a purpose-built experience platform for communities of practice, has announced a Series A fundraising round and a merger with Web Courseworks, a leading Learning Management System. The two industry giants will work together as a single business under the Forj brand. Plymouth Growth led the deal, supported by existing Forj investors Baird Capital and GCI.

Forj was founded in 2021 to reimagine the member experience and simplify the association technology ecosystem by delivering tailored information, member-to-member relationships, and learning opportunities through a single solution. The Company will offer community-driven learning to help its clients minimize attrition, boost membership, and create non-dues income by leveraging the Web Courseworks technology, people, and experience.

Forj CEO Kurt Heikkinen stated:

“Our objective is to modernize the member experience in mission-driven organizations and other communities of practice so that they can reach their full potential. As our customers evolve to meet the ever-increasing demands of their members who want to learn, develop relationships, and join a community that helps them grow, there is a big potential in front of us. I’m thrilled to invest in our future and lead our teams as we accelerate innovation and growth.”

Amber Winter, Forj’s Chief Client Officer and former CEO of Web Courseworks commented:

“When we first met Kurt and the Forj team, we saw parallels in our cultures and approaches to customer interactions. We share similar principles and a strong dedication to service. By joining forces, we position ourselves as the member experience partner of choice, delivering demonstrable outcomes to organizations seeking to develop and expand their influence via the use of the community as a catalyst for learning.”

“Plymouth Growth is thrilled to support the merging of Forj and Web Courseworks,” stated Evan Ufer, Partner at Plymouth Growth. “We are happy to support this established leadership team in bringing two outstanding firms together, having previously collaborated with Kurt and current Forj investors, Baird Capital and GCI. As the market for member experience and community-driven learning continues to develop, this is an incredible opportunity for both firms and their respective consumers.”

On Forj’s board of directors, Ufer joins Kurt Heikkinen, CEO of Forj, Jim Pavlik, Partner at Baird Capital, and Bill Schleicher, President, and COO of GCI.

Forj is the premier supplier of member experience platforms explicitly designed for organizations and professional groups looking to increase membership, income, and influence. The platform powers tailored, enhanced experiences that bring members together for the more significant benefit.
