EDINBURGH, December 13, 2022 — Green Bioactives Ltd (‘GBL’), a global pioneer in the discovery, development, and sustainable manufacture of high-value natural products produced from plant cell cultures, has closed a £2.6 million seed fundraising round.

The capital round was headed by Eos Advisory LLP and included investments from Regenerate Ventures’ Agtech Fund in London, Milltrust International Group in London and Singapore, and Scottish Enterprise, which also offered advisory services to the firm.

The funding will help the firm to expand its management, production, and research teams, allowing it to showcase its biomanufacturing technique on a bigger scale.

The money will also be utilized to develop new sector-specific commercial alliances, enhance marketing and product sales, and secure intellectual property and Freedom to Operate on the company’s fundamental biomanufacturing process components and product-specific plant cell lines. Green Bioactives has already begun hiring for various commercial and technical jobs within the company to fulfill these objectives.

Green Bioactives CEO David McElroy stated: “This £2.6 million seed funding is a huge step forward for Green Bioactives, and we’re thrilled to have attracted such a strong international investor base, demonstrating the global commercial potential of our plant cell culture-based biomanufacturing platform. The investment comes at an important time for the firm as we prepare for future expansion and continue improving our technology to become the world’s top provider of safe, natural, and sustainably produced plant-derived goods.”

Eos Partner Andrew Durkie added: “Green Bioactives represents an exciting, innovative approach to the production of plant-derived natural products, and the company’s sustainability ethos distinguishes it as a standout player at a time when companies across a variety of industries are looking for more environmentally friendly and commercially viable ways to produce these types of products. Green Bioactives has made considerable progress on its platform since its inception, and we are delighted to be assisting the company’s development as part of this seed round.”
