America’s regulated sports betting startup Sporttrade

SAN FRANCISCO, 19 August 2022 – Perform, a startup that provides an intelligent training app and personal running coach to help runners achieve their goals, announced that it has secured USD 1.2 million in pre-seed funding from defy.vc, Techstars, the chief product officer of Calm, the former chief product officer of Uber, the co-founder of Fitbod, and other industry leaders.

Along with the funding, the company also revealed that Meb Keflezighi, who won the 2014 Boston Marathon and 2009 New York City Marathon, and Merhawi Keflezighi, who serves as the CEO of HAWI Management and manages elite endurance and track and field athletes, had joined the board of advisors.

Since the beta introduction of Perform earlier this year, the running community has reacted positively. New runners looking to incorporate running into a healthy lifestyle and runners preparing for fall marathons like the Chicago Marathon and New York City Marathon make up the company’s expanding customer base.

Coaches that wish to join Perform’s coaching staff are showing much interest, as does professional runner Colin Bennie, the top American finisher in the Boston Marathon in 2021, and Cal Calamia, the first non-binary+ winner of the San Francisco Marathon in 2022.

Meb and Merhawi will play significant roles in Perform’s upcoming expansion phase, offering advice on the business’s new coaching and training offerings and presenting Perform to fresh running industry audiences.

The four-time Olympian Meb Keflezighi stated:

“I’m pleased to join Perform as it offers me an excellent platform to share what I’ve learned over my running career and enables me to help runners across the world achieve their goals. I’m excited to collaborate with Perform to increase access to coaching for runners of all backgrounds and skill levels.”

Eric Brownrout, CEO of Perform, said:

“We’ve been inspired by the response from the running community and our consumers. We have observed how Perform’s reasonably priced coaching fills market gaps and significantly improves athletes’ lives. Along with an increasing number of rookie runners who have never worked with a coach before, not just serious racers. We are thrilled to collaborate with Meb, Merhawi, and our partners to advance Perform and make it available to more athletes.”

More about Perform:

The goal of Perform is to make individualized training available to all runners. The most inexpensive, practical, and intelligent method for runners to train and achieve their goals is provided by Perform’s running coaches and intelligent training app.

Perform matches athletes who sign up for run coaching with a coach who develops a specialized training schedule and offers accountability and support via regular video sessions and messaging. The skills and knowledge gained through Perform’s first product, an AI-powered music app that motivates and inspires athletes by reacting in real-time to their heart rate and pace, are built upon in the company’s coaching offering.
