The U.S-based software and cloud solution provider Altair India announced a collaboration with the Aeronautical Society of India (AESI) to mentor startups. The partnership took place on July 16, 2022. Altair India will work with Aero Innovation and Skill Center (AISC), a Special Interest Group (SPG) of the Aeronautical Society of India (AESI).

Purpose of the Collaboration between Altair and AESI

Altair India signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with an aim to bridge the skill gap between the industry and academia. Meanwhile, the partners intend to focus on nurturing the startup ecosystem in the aerospace and defence industry.

Altair will fulfill its part of the bargain by extending support for free access to technology, solutions, and mentorship to startups. The solution provider company seeks to nurture AeSI-AISC aspirants through software, courseware, and certifications for AISC’s startup and academic programs.

The AeSI’s collaboration with Altair India is a mentor and jury partnership for the Altair India Start-up Challenge 2022 (ASC). This year’s challenge focuses on Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) in the aerospace and defence industry. AISC will fulfill the mentorship role and also adjudge the startups. Meanwhile, both the companies will reach out to the incubators in order to promote ASC 2022.

What the Altair India official has to say

Vishwanath Rao, the managing director of Altair India, said, “I congratulate the Aeronautical Society of India, Bangalore Branch (AeSI) on launching a special interest group, Aero Innovation and Skill Centre (AISC). I am sure this initiative will help bridge the skill gap between the Industry and Academia and will nurture the startup ecosystem in the aerospace & defence industry in the coming years.”

“Altair believes that these upcoming startups in the field of Aerospace and Defense will challenge the status quo and accelerate the speed of innovation by leveraging the solid platforms built by our DRDOs & DPSUs. The initiatives taken by the Aeronautical Society of India and the Altair Start-up Challenge are the steppingstones to creating a humming ecosystem for Aerospace & Defence innovation through startups”, he further added.

About the Altair India Startup Challenge 2022

Altair India, in collaboration with Start-up India, a Government of India initiative, devised the Altair-Start-up Challenge. The vision is to build a strong and inclusive ecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship in India. The challenge offers organizations access to high-end technology, mentorship, and expert support, among others. The idea is to identify, support, mentor, and reward budding startups with their simulation, optimization, and machine learning technologies. The startups identify Altair technologies that would drive the design and engineering of their companies’ products. Besides, it would improve product performance, reduce product development time, and minimize cost.

Altair India shortlists companies from the pool of applications received. They are judged on how they apply Altair technologies, how well they enhance their product designs, and their potential business impact. Finally, as a reward, Altair mentors these startups and offers free access to Altair technologies for four months.
