Juli, an AI-powered digital health platform that empowers patients and their care teams to manage complicated chronic illnesses, revealed on March 3rd, 2022, that it had raised US$3.8 million in a preliminary fundraising round.

Speedinvest is one of Europe’s most active early-stage venture capital firms, and Norrsken VC, a fund that invests in entrepreneurs that solve the world’s most pressing problems while also developing enormous businesses, led the round. Dieter Von Holtzbrinck Ventures and SoftBank’s Vision Fund Emerge Program joined the investment round.

Juli will use the funds to expand its commercial team across the United States, undertake clinical trials of the app, and hire more artificial intelligence experts, all with the goal of improving chronic care.

What the founder has to say:

“Juli assists patients, doctors, and employers in identifying behavioral triggers that exacerbate or ameliorate the most difficult-to-treat and complicated chronic diseases, such as asthma, migraines, depression, and bipolar disorder. We will be able to increase our reach to improve patient health and minimize health care expenses with the help of Speedinvest, Norrsken, and our other investors.”

-Bettina Hein, CEO and co-founder of Boston-based Juli.

What the investors have to say:

Tove Larrson, General Partner at Norrsken VC-

“Chronic illnesses are impacting an increasing number of individuals and putting enormous strain on healthcare systems. We urgently want better tools to manage chronic illnesses, and available technology must be used to ensure that management tools are available to a wider range of people.

“Juli helps patients live better lives and relieves pressure on healthcare systems by collecting data from multiple sources and monitoring patterns and triggers with its clever AI-powered technology. We are excited to collaborate with the Juli team to meet this enormous task.”

Michael Schuster, General Partner at Speedinvest:

“It’s frequently experienced founders with a fresh viewpoint who succeed in innovating where others simply rely on the status quo. The Juli team brings so much knowledge from so many various industries to the table – especially their in-depth experience and expertise with data – that I am confident they will completely transform digital healthcare!”

About Juli:

Founded in 2020, Juli is a management platform that enables patients and their care teams to better manage chronic illnesses. To discover micro-behavioral changes that can enhance a patient’s health, the AI-powered software analyses patient-provided data, environmental data, and a patient’s social and behavioral context. Juli provides evidence-based support to people with chronic health disorders such as asthma, migraine, depression, bipolar disorder, and chronic pain and is the only platform that brings together numerous health data sources in one place.
