Singaporean cybersecurity startup CloudSEK raises USD 7 million in Series A round

Singapore-based CloudSEK, an AI-based digital risk management platform that detects and resolves threats across the Internet with high precision, raised USD 7 million on 8th December.

Investors: The investment round was led by MassMutual Ventures alongside Omidyar Network India, 100X Entrepreneur, individual investors Firoz Meeran and Navas Meeran (Group Meeran), and CRED founder Kunal Shah’s QED Innovation Labs. Existing investors Exfinity Venture Partners, IDFC Parampara, and StartupXseed Ventures participated in the investment round.

Purpose of funding: With the funds, the company plans to accelerate its sales and marketing activities across Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and North America. As seen, persistent attacks are more common in these regions, using a dynamic approach. Moreover, it plans to ramp up its research and development to keep pace with an increasingly sophisticated global threat landscape. The startup is also looking to expand its market presence for its newly launched products.

About CloudSEK

Founded in 2015 by Rahul Sasi, CloudSEK is located in Singapore. CloudSEK is an AI-based digital risk management platform that detects and resolves threats across the Internet with a high degree of precision. Its goal is to create a technology that can proactively identify and address digital threats.

Furthermore, the startup offers two products, XVigil and BeVigil. The first is constantly enhancing and utilizing the flagship digital risk monitoring platform, XVigil. At present, XVigil serves many industries, including banks, technology companies, healthcare companies, and retailers. Second, BeVigil, a security search engine, allowed users, developers, and researchers to gauge the security of their applications. With over 10,000 users and 400+ business accounts, BeVigil is currently free to use.

What the founder has to say

“Our technology focus is to predict cyber-attacks, even before they occur, by leveraging our AI (artificial intelligence) platform. To achieve this, we have assembled a world class team of engineers, researchers, and cybersecurity experts. This approach has taken us from six customers to over 100 customers, and we aim to acquire another 300 customers in the next 2 years,” said Rahul Sasi, founder, and chairman at CloudSEK.

What the investors have to say

“CloudSEK is addressing a growing demand for automated assessment, classification and remediation of cyber threats and for transforming large scale security teams to an agile threat centric approach. The platform’s ability to monitor and manage threats and infrastructure at the enterprise level is world class. We are very excited to partner with Rahul, Sourabh and team on their vision to build the leading AI-enabled platform for cybersecurity,” said Anvesh Ramineni, Managing Director at MassMutual Ventures.

“We are delighted to see the continued growth of CloudSEK that validates its strengths as a global cybersecurity company out of South Asia. The ever-increasing need for Cybersecurity coupled with the shortage of skilled resources, is further accentuating the demand for security threat prediction capabilities that CloudSEK brings to the table,” said Chinnu Senthilkumar, Managing Partner, and CTO at Exfinity Ventures.
