03. September-2021 – New York-based SimpliFed, a company that provides a baby feeding support platform and virtual lactation, announced that it raised USD 500 K in a pre-seed funding round. This round was led by Third Culture Capital.

The startup will utilize this capital raised in hiring a new workforce to expand and grow the telelactation platform’s footprint. The platform is getting ready to go through a clinical study to co-design the program with nearly 1000 mothers.

Words from investors –

Julien Pham, the managing partner at Third Culture Capital, said “I met Ippolito at MIT Hacking Medicine a decade ago.” He is a physician by training and witnessed how big of an opportunity it is to provide the best nutrition for babies.

“The U.S. culture has evolved over the years, and millennials are the next-generation moms who have a different ask, and SimpliFed is here at the right time,” Pham said. “Andrea is just a dynamo. We love her energy and how she is at the front line of this as a mother herself — she is most qualified to do this, and we support her.”

About SimpliFed  –

SimpliFed was initiated by Andrea Ippolito (CEO), in May 2020, having its headquarters in Ithaca, New York. By profession, Andrea is a biomedical engineer as well as a mother of two young children. The idea of starting SimpliFed was when she struggled with breastfeeding her first child and realized she was not only the one. So she started to figure out a way to let anyone have an access to support and information for infant feeding.

“Post discharge is when the rubber meets the goal for us,” – Andrea said. “This is a huge pain point for Medicaid, and it is not just about increasing access, but providing ongoing support for feeding and the quagmire that is health insurance. We want to help moms reach their infant feeding goals, no matter how they choose to feed, and to figure out what feeding looks like for them.”

The platform provided by SimpliFed is a judgement-free zone that offers information on nutritional health for babies on based on real-life pieces of evidence. The platform is not meant to replace the typical care that mother and baby will have pre and post-delivery,  but offers support when an issue occurs – Andrea said.

The parents can book a free session of consulting for 15 mins with the expert and then have a 60 minutes session for USD 100, subsequently. There is a option available of membership for the people who seek for continous care.
