Amazon Web Services (AWS), the cloud computing arm of Amazon, launched its AWS Public Sector Startup Ramp in India on 13 July 2021.

The new program seeks to help early-stage technology startups focused on the public sector build solutions on AWS. India is one of the first countries with Amazon offices to roll out this program.

AWS Startup Ramp

AWS Startup Ramp is an acceleration program for startups that are building innovative solutions for public sector customers worldwide, which includes customers in national and local government, space and defence and healthcare.

It will help the startups to build and scale innovative solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Amazon believes that navigating the public sector is not a simple task and thus wants to help startups by offering them the tools and resources needed to overcome challenges like contracting and regulatory compliance standards.

Who can join?

Early-stage startups can apply to join the AWS Startup Ramp in one of the two tiers: pre-revenue startups (apply to the Innovator tier) and post-revenue startups (with up to ₹100 crore in revenue can apply to the Member tier). Startups that meet all qualifying application criteria will be reviewed and evaluated for participation on the basis of their potential contributions to public sector customers.

AWS Startup Ramp is modelled after AWS EdStart, which works with Edtech focused startups, and AWS GovTechStart, the US-based program that supports commercial technology companies serving state and local governments.
