Scythe Robotics also disclosed raising a sum of US $4 million seed investment led by True Ventures, bringing the total funding amount of Scythe Robotics to US $18.6 million.

How Scythe Robotics works

Scythe Robotics emerges from stealth with autonomous mower

Scythe Robotics’ primary product is an autonomous mower, provided to clients through a Robot-as-a-Service (RaaS) model. This system is becoming more popular in the business and industrial space, basically offering clients robotics through a rental model that includes frequent updates and support. Interestingly, Scythe Robotics charges clients based on acres mowed.

The mower features eight HDR cameras and various sensors created to help circumvent individuals, animals, and multiple obstructions it might find on the job. Typically, these sensors also come with a wealth of data collection aimed at, among other things improving the robot’s efficiency. Landscaping is relatively low-hanging fruit for robotics.

Founder’s Insight

In the words of co-founder and CEO of Scythe Robotics, Jack Morrison“To date, commercial landscape contractors haven’t had a technology ally who empowers them to keep up with demand and to work emissions-free. We are that ally. Our autonomous mower gives users the ability to develop their business while staying green. It’s developed from the ground up to be an order of magnitude more secure, more productive, and more reliable than any existing machine by incorporating state of the art autonomy with a sturdy, all-electric design.”
