startups are driving the future of 5G

The worldwide deployment of next-generation 5G networks seems to be right around the corner, and companies are beginning to take notice. While the consumer sector eagerly waits to stream movies or play on their PS5 without worrying about slow internet, many businesses are busy finding innovative ways to use 5G in a way that will change the world for the better. 5G was released in 2018 and gradually, more and more users are connecting via 5G. It is also believed that the speed of the 5G network will underpin the trends like IoT, smart cities and big data.

The benefits of 5G for enterprises are unprecedented. It will enable companies to mobilize their workforces, accelerate automation and support new applications through higher data rates and network capacity. With the growing amount of data exchanged among the edge, data centre and cloud, 5G will be responsible to provide a seamless user experience for outdoor urban and rural wireless.

While the big names in the 5G domain like Ericsson, Huawei, Nokia might be getting all the attention in the 5G domain, it is interesting to see how startup companies use this opportunity to make an impact. Startups across various sectors like healthcare, gaming, AI and 5G itself, are doing a lot of amazing things. Here are a few that are making strides in their sectors with the help of the next-generation of wireless communication – 5G:

1. Cellwize

Cellwize

Cellwize helps mobile network operators to accelerate their 5G journey with a cloudified, AI-driven RAN automation platform. It aims to enable the networks of the future today. Chime, their cloudified and AI-driven RAN automation, enables operators to connect to any application or vendor, even in complex and dynamic network environments, while delivering great ease, speed and agility. It is operating in 16 cities, with around 3 million cell sites running Cellwize. The company also claims to have 800 million subscribers worldwide. Some of its customers include – Bell, Nextel, Verizon, Movistar, Ncell and Mobifone, among others.

4. WasteHero

WasteHero

WasteHero is an end-to-end smart waste collection solution provider. It monitors activities, including bin fullness, temperature and fill rate to identify waste generation patterns. The data collected from bins is used to produce real-time analysis for city officials to visualize every trash bin’s fullness and deploy hauliers only when needed, thus saving time and effort. The startup uses 5G and the IoT to install sensors throughout cities and alert companies to where waste collection is required and the most effective route to take. WasteHero aims to improve healthcare and sanitation and prevent the overflow of garbage.
