Career counselling

SchooLinks, an Austin based career readiness platform, announced on 15th March 2021 that it has raised US $ 8.3 million in its Series A round. The round was led by Liveoak Venture Partners along with participation from Juvo Ventures and SJF Ventures.

Investors: Liveoak Venture Partners is a Texas based venture capital firm founded in 2012 by Ben Scott, Krishna Srinivasan and  Venu Shamapant. It predominantly invests in early-stage startups and is not driven towards pre-determined sectors or industries. Over the years, as it claims, it has made investments to the tune of US $ 250 million and has created over US $ 2 billion in enterprise value.

Purpose of funding: SchooLinks plans on utilising the latest round of investments to triple its headcount, expedite product development and integrations, and expand its partnerships. Currently, it has its presence in around 14 states, but it is planning on expanding into all 50 states.

About SchooLinks:

SchooLinks was founded in 2015 by Katie Fang. It provides career planning and counselling to students via its student-centric, and data & feedback driven platform.

Fang was deeply inspired to come up with such a platform after her own counselling and career guidance, which was not effective. She found herself pursuing a degree that did not match her career goals.

Choosing the right path and checking out all your options early on in your career is an important aspect  and SchooLink helps you do exactly that.

It has been only a few years since the launch of SchooLinks and it already has more than 500,000 students using its platform.

What the founder and investors have to say:

“Through their middle school, high school journeys as a parent, and as a kid themselves, there is an acute need for better platforms to help kids and parents think through a kid’s strengths and paths, what careers they should be aiming toward, what colleges they should be aiming toward, and what courses they should take.”—Krishna Srinivasan, founding partner of LiveOak Venture Partners.

“We designed our platform for equity, diversity and accessibility. It doesn’t matter what background you come from—you will be able to find useful content, tools and features that will help you achieve success.”– Katie Fang, founder and CEO of SchooLinks.
