LetsVenture – an Indian VC firm launches Women Angel Network on International Women’s Day

Indian VC firm LetsVenture launched its Women Angel Network on 8 March 2021, to promote the representation of women investors in the venture capital world.

The Women Angel Network platform will allow women angel investors to invest in early- and growth-stage startups. With an aim to bring at least 100 such investors onboard in 2021 as well as launch at least five lead syndicates run by women, LetsVenture made this announcement on the occasion of International Women’s Day. A cohort-based learning program will be conducted and will last for about three months.

The VC firm aims to bring about gender parity in the investor community. The number of women that are a part of the boards in listed and unlisted companies in India is very low. LetsVenture wants to improve this number and empower women investors. It will be partnering with a US-based firm that runs a women-centric learning platform in the next few weeks.

Perks that the network will provide:

·  Technical know-how by letting the women investors participate as an observer in LetsVenture deals.

·  They will be exposed to an investing network and will get access to a curated module. T

·  The investors will get access to LetsVenture’s platform and will be allowed to make investments in lower ticket sizes for a particular number of deals.

·  Provide a platform for women angel investors to actively mentor startups and give guidance to founders in their areas of expertise.

“Having spoken to several women investors as well as those that are suited to fall into this bucket, we found that the biggest impediments were the lack of access to networks where knowledge and startup deal flow is shared.” — Sunitha Ramaswamy, president of Early Stage, a VC unit of LetsVenture.

LetsVentures claims to have funded 261 rounds, it has a network of around 6308 angel investors and has raised US$ 141M to date. Some of its funding partners include – 2ONE4 Capital, Accel Partners, India Quotient, Unitus Capital, Orios Ventures, Sprout Capital and SOSV Ventures among others.
