About Latitude

Latitude

Founded in 2019 by Alan Walton and Nick Walton, Latitude turned from a hackathon project to an infinite AI-powered gaming platform. It leverages OpenAI’s GPT-3 engine for developing open-ended game creation. The startup is headquartered in Provo, Utah with employees across the U.S. and Canada. By using the latest in AI advancements, the company enables limitless storytelling and gaming experience. Its flagship AI Dungeon game has drawn more than 1.5 million monthly active users. Latitude uses AI technology to create fully dynamic stories which enable an infinite universe with characters that respond intelligently to what the player says or does. Thus, the game AI Dungeon is not constrained by what has been pre-programmed.

Latitude accelerates game development from years to months for IP holders. It also helps much smaller teams to build immersive game experiences by reducing costs from more than US$ 100M to less than $100,000.

What the CEO has to say: “We’re beginning to scratch the surface of the immersive gaming possibilities using next-generation AI. This funding will allow us to continue scaling our gaming platform, which includes growing our Latitude game development team by hiring more engineers and AI talent,” said Latitude co-founder and CEO Nick Walton.

What the investors have to say: “Latitude is revolutionizing how games are made, creating a whole new genre of entertainment gaming fueled by AI. The best AI minds and engineers are gathering there to produce games that the world has never seen before. Latitude is already by far the leading AI games company,” said James Currier of NFX.

“Having spent my entire career at the intersection of traditional and interactive media, it’s incredibly exciting to see the potential within the Latitude platform to upend the status quo. By democratizing game development with AI, Latitude is empowering anybody from the largest media entities to niche fandoms to create immersive gaming experiences,” said Peter Levin, Managing Director of Griffin Gaming Partners.
