Berlin, Germany-based startup Sennder, a digital road freight forwarder, raised €131.2 million in Series D funding, surpassing a US$ 1 billion valuation on 14 January 2021.

The Series D round was led by new and existing investors including Accel, Lakestar, HV Capital, Project A and Scania and an undisclosed US investor, bringing Sennder’s total funding to US$ 260M. About Sennder

Sennder

Founded in 2015 by David Nothacker, Julius Köhler and Nicolaus Schefenacker, Sennder is a digital road freight forwarder that links large commercial shippers with small freight carriers. Sennder aims to provide a new level of automation, transparency and efficiency to the European €300 billion road freight market.

Sennder has established a digital connection with over 10,000 vehicles, allowing for almost unlimited capacities. It is digitalizing the truckload-shipping ecosystem by providing mobile apps to drivers, fleet management tools to carrier managers and logistics management solutions to shippers. It is bringing transparency to the logistics supply chain through real-time booking, a designated contact person always on hand and as precise live tracking. Sennder is increasing efficiency and reducing cost for all stakeholders with its services.

Sennder has been growing at lightspeed with more than 800 employees across seven international offices. It will move over 1 million truckloads this year, becoming Europe’s leading digital road freight forwarders. Their sustainable mission is to use data to optimize route efficiency and reduce the environmental impact of road freight and the cost of transportation.

What the CEO has to say

“I’m very proud to see Sennder’s mission and vision become a reality. We are now an established industry player on equal terms with other more traditional sector pioneers but have maintained our founding spirit. As a data-driven company, we contribute to making the logistics industry fit for a sustainable future; ensuring transparency, flexibility and efficiency in the distribution of goods. The COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated the importance of a digitalized logistics industry. Throughout 2020, we helped our carriers increase their profitability by enhancing operating margins by up to 80% during a challenging time. Sennder is uniquely positioned to drive industry digitalization, benefiting shippers and carriers alike,” said David Nothacker, CEO and co-founder of Sennder.

What the Investors have to say
