Discord, a San Francisco based online communication and voice chat platform has secured US$ 100 Million in a Series H funding round led by Greenoaks Capital. The other investors include China’s Tencent, Sparks Capital, Greylock and IVP among several others. The startup says it will be using these funds to increase its investment in new features, building communities and for developing the company.
This additional funding has brought Discord to a US$ 7 Billion valuation which is close to double the value it was six months ago. It has announced lately that it is expanding its services more than the gaming community, as described by The Verge. The company declares that this development has desperately been demanded by its users as it had moved past gaming and is now used for multiple day-to-day communications.
This brand new investment round had been talked about for a while, and some people have defined it as a “pre-IPO round” for the privately-backed startup. Prime Unicorn points out that Discord’s most latest price per share in the documentation is $280.2487, including the Series G priced at $144.1809.

Danny Rimer of Index Ventures said, “Rather than throwing raw content at you, like Facebook, [Discord] provides a shared experience for you and your friends. We’ll come to appreciate that Discord does for social conversation what Slack has done for professional conversation.”
