San Francisco-based virtual events platform Hubilo has secured US$ 4.5M in a seed funding round held in October 2020, led by Lightspeed Venture Partners. Other participants in the funding round include Freshworks CEO Girish Mathrubootham, ex-LinkedIn India CEO Nishant Rao, Slideshare co-founder Jonathan Boutelle, and Helpshift CEO Abinash Tripathy.

Hubilo was founded by Mayank Agarwal and Anubhav Jain in February 2020 and provides a platform for companies to host virtual events. It provides features such as:

  1. Interactive live sessions: Attendees can host live on-demand sessions, question & answer sessions, live chat, conduct live polls and host digital keynote speakers.
  2.  One-on-one meeting lounges: Enables attendees to fix one-on-one meetings, group meetings consisting of a maximum of 4 people and meetings with sponsors and exhibitors (seats can be reserved in advance for them).
  3. Audience engagement and networking prospects: Helps attendees interact with like-minded people, easy scheduling of one-on-one video meetings and live chat, take notes and exchange business cards.
  4.   Virtual sponsor booths: Here, attendees can explore, filter and sort exhibitor and sponsor profiles; exhibitors and sponsors can easily market their product, host downloadable collaterals and schedule meetings with attendees.

Hubilo was originally founded as an event management software, but when the event industry came to a halt from COVID-19 and physical events started getting canceled, the team promptly turned to the virtual event space.

CEO Vaibhav Jain was quoted to have said, “Southeast Asia is already 12% of our sales, growing at 25% month-on-month and we are looking to aggressively scale our business in the region.” The startup said it expects to surpass US$ 10M in bookings run rate and host over 1 million participants from April over the next few months. Some of its esteemed customers include the United Nations, Roche, Informa Markets, Fortune, Tech in Asia, Infocomm Asia, and GITEX. Hubilo claims that a regular client has come back to host no less than four new events within 6 months. This has especially been witnessed in the markets of the US, EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), and APAC (Asia Pacific).
