Malaysia-based on-demand employee and jobs platform, GoGet has raised US$ 2M in a Series A funding round held in October 2020, led by Monk’s Hill Ventures.

Proceeds from the funding round will be used to revamp its services in the home ground through product development, creating and expanding its product and technology teams. It will also be used to increase the headcount of its sales and digital marketing teams to grow the user base. The startup also aims to expand across the ASEAN.

GoGet, founded in 2014 by Francesca Chia, Muaz Jema Khan and Tai Fung Wei Tan, is a platform that connects MNCs, SMEs and businessmen to verified part-time workers, named GoGetters. Companies can hire GoGetters through the GoGet app for part-time work at any time for services such as logistics, sales and marketing support, operations and admin support.

CEO Francesca Chia said that the old labor market is unproductive during these challenging times and SMEs need to find advanced ways to reduce costs while simultaneously being profitable. She went on to add that her startup’s robust technology provides these businesses an affordable solution outside of what a normal/regular job matching service can provide. This includes quality maintenance, adherence to standards, pleasant user experience, and workflow integration.

Chia quoted, “Our vision is to build a sustainable future of work by empowering both businesses and gig economy workers in ASEAN. We also believe that by addressing the gaps in protection for flexible workers, it is making flexible work sustainable for our future.”

Presently, the startup has over 20K GoGetters and claims to have created US$ 5M in the value of jobs. It has also helped more than 5K small to large businesses grow operationally without inviting full-time costs. GoGet’s clientele includes Lazada Malaysia, IKEA Malaysia, and foodpanda, who with the help of GoGetters are able to perform regular tasks such as delivery, packing, and event management. GoGet has also brought forward gamification to teach new skills to the GoGetters and increase their efficiency. GoGetters also get access to a suite of financial services such as savings and insurance.

The startup also plans to give access to its platform to companies so that they can utilize their technology to manage and digitize manual procedures in their workforce.

GoGet won the UNCDF B40 Challenge at MyFinTechWeek 2019 in Kuala Lumpur, in July 2019.
