Bengaluru based startup DrinkPrime raises US$ 3M in Pre-Series A round

Bengaluru-based ‘pay-as-you-use water purifier startup DrinkPrime raised US$3 million in a Pre- Series A round on 18 Aug 2020.

The Pre series A round was led by Sequoia Capital India’s Surge with participation from Omidyar Network India. The startup had previously raised US$ 800K in its seed funding from a number of investors including Kunal Bahl, Ankit Agarwal, Rohit Bansal among others.

The funds raised will be used to strengthen its team and also invest in its growth plans. DrinkPrime plans to reach around 1 million households in the next 3 years. It is also planning to expand its services to top 10 Indian cities and expand its product portfolio.

Drink Prime Purifier

Drink Prime provides smart water purifiers leveraging Internet of Things (IOT) technology. It has a seven-stage filtration process which provides access to clean drinking water on tap. Customers are charged on pay-as-you-use model. The water purifier is connected to cloud with the help of the Drink Prime App. The app checks for quality of water and also schedules monthly payments.

DrinkPrime was founded by Vijender Reddy Muthyala and Manas Ranjan Hota in 2015 with a vision to provide safe drinking water to all. DrinkPrime aims to make drinking water affordable and reduce the hassle of installation or regular maintenance.

They provide lifetime free maintenance, no upfront investment and free upgrade to latest technology. DrinkPrime also offers a risk free 7-day trial. If the customer doesn’t like the purifier, he/she can return it.

“We are currently operating in Bangalore and looking to expand to multiple geographies this year. Now with a much more robust product, our customers’ love for DrinkPrime is pushing us to grow rapidly. We aim to reach a million households in the next couple of years and be true to our vision,” said Vijender Reddy Muthyala, CEO and co-founder of DrinkPrime.
