Kolkata-based tech startup Data Sutram has raised US$ 266K in funding in August 2020, from Indian Angel Network (IAN) angels Uday Sodhi, Mitesh Shah, and Nitin Jain.
Jadavpur University alumni, Rajit Bhattacharya, Aisik Paul, and Ankit Das founded the startup in 2018. The startup is an AI-backed platform that gathers information from external data to deliver location-based data intelligence.
The B2B focused startup claims that a lot of precious insights that lie in the form of unstructured data from multiple resources are vastly available in the market. This information needs to be managed, cleaned, geo-tagged, and transformed into usable data, that can be readily used by a business. Data Sutram’s goal is to solve this problem as it discovers raw data sources and analyzes socio-economic parameters like demography, ethnicity, affluence, spending capacity, and a host of other specifications to comprehend a location.
They help businesses by pinpointing new locations where they can expand, resulting in improvement of their performance and targeting the right audience for their product. Starting at 12 data sources, the engine currently accesses over 200+ data sources in a time duration of six months to gather intelligence.
Co-founder Rajit Bhattacharya said, “We are delighted to get IAN on board as an investor, and will leverage the capital infusion to strengthen our platform in providing enhanced services to our consumers.”
Currently, the startup focuses on sectors such as pharmacy, FMCG, and grocery, with plans of entering in the BFSI, agritech, media and entertainment in the future.
